Fresno Chiropractor Comments on Chronic Fatigue Syndrome Possible Causes From the Centers For Disease Control:
According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), "While a single cause for CFS may yet be identified, another possibility is that CFS represents a common endpoint of disease resulting from multiple precipitating causes."
The CDC web page titled Chronic Fatigue Syndrome Possible Causes, reviews research findings that connect Chronic Fatigue Syndrome with the commonly cited precipitating causes...infectious agents, immunology, HPA axis dysfunction, neurally mediated hypertension, and nutritional deficiency.

I want to comment on a few things in this article.
The takeway message from the CDC is that in patients with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome...there is some degree of chronic viral infections, immune and autoimmune reactions, adrenal fatigue, and deficiency in vital nutrients...but none of them are common to every single chronic fatigue syndrome patient...meaning the cause is multivariable.
Yet the CDC maintains that, "a single cause for CFS may yet be identified." Not likely...every chronic fatigue patient is different...much to the dismay of the medical community...who would love a one size fits all treatment that could be patented and be turned into a billion dollar empire. It's not going to happen...this is a complex syndrome...not a well defined disease.
Chronic Fatigue Syndrome is complex...and no cookie cutter approach is ever going to provide huge turn-arounds in the lives of CFS patients. Another problem that puts CFS patients at a huge disadvantage in mainstream healthcare is the system of specialists we have created. Each specialist has their own set of blinders they look at a patient through...with each specialist looking at only a small piece of the puzzle. Time, effort, and money is often wasted because each specialist focuses on only a small piece of a big puzzle.
A successful treatment approach for chronic fatigue syndrome is going to consider neurologic, immune, and hormone issues...all at the SAME time. So...while the CDC is wise in concluding that CFS is from "multiple precipitating causes"...it is the fact that they are holding out for that singular cause...that likely doesn't exist...that is concerning.
